Empowering Persons with Disabilities in Accra
Memoir Publication
A Powerful Memoir of Resilience, Advocacy, and Triumph!
Born in a small village in Ghana and struck by polio at a young age, Veronica L. Amartey-Owusu learned early that survival meant more than just enduring—it meant fighting back.
Silent Battles, Bold Victories is a gripping and inspiring memoir that takes readers on a journey through the harsh realities of living with a disability in a society that viewed her as “cursed.” Facing rejection, discrimination, and betrayal, Veronica refused to be silenced.
Her search for opportunity led her to Germany, where she encountered new struggles—cultural isolation, systemic exclusion, and the ever-looming fear of deportation. Yet, in the face of adversity, she found her true purpose: advocating for disability rights and breaking down barriers for those society often overlooks.
